Responsibilities if chosen as a recipient

After winning a scholarship, the acceptance form must be completed by the deadline of May 29th. Not completing the acceptance form by the deadline means you have forfeited your National FFA Scholarship.

Use of scholarship funds

The scholarship is a one-time award that must be used in the 2026-27 academic year.

  • It may only be used at an accredited, non-profit college/university or vocational/technical school in the United States for tuition, room and board, fees, books, supplies, and equipment required for your courses for all students.

  • You may update your school before July 1st by contacting [email protected] to request a change.

  • If you change your college/university after July 1 or request a reissue of your award payment for any reason, a reissued fee will apply.

Deferrals

Deferrals will only be permitted under the following circumstances and only for one academic year (two semesters):

  • State Officer

  • Year of Mission service

  • Year of Military service

  • Year of Service (AmeriCorps, Peace Corps, etc.)

If you need a deferral, you must complete the award acceptance process before you request to defer your award.

Not completing the deferral process means you have forfeited your National FFA Scholarship.

Deferral Process

  1. Accept your National FFA Scholarship

    1. Provide your deferral reason (from the acceptable deferral reasons above)

    2. Provide an email address that is not associated with your high school email address.

Not completing the deferral process means you have forfeited your National FFA Scholarship

FFA State Officers

If you will not find out if you are going to be a State Officer before the acceptance deadline, you must accept the National FFA Scholarship and then follow the above deferral process.

If you need to cancel the deferral for the same year, send an email to [email protected] and [email protected].

Not completing the deferral process means you have forfeited your National FFA Scholarship
