Changing School or Deferring Enrollment After Award

Here's what to do if your enrollment plans change after you've accepted your award. Whether you're transferring to a different school, deferring your start date, or pausing your enrollment.

This article covers:

  • Notifying your program administrator

  • What information to share

  • How your disbursements are affected

Notify your program administrator

If your enrollment plans change, contact your program administrator as soon as possible. They manage your award record and need to update it on their end before disbursements can continue or be rescheduled.

You can usually find administrator contact information in:

  • Your original award notification email

  • The confirmation email from your acceptance form

If the program administrator contact information is not available, please reach out to Kaleidoscope Support at [email protected]

Note: Don't wait until your next disbursement is due to report a change. Reaching out early makes it much easier to avoid processing delays or returned payments.

What information to share

When you contact your administrator, be ready to provide:

  • Your new school name and if relevant, your new program or degree

  • Your new school's financial aid office information

  • Your new start date (for a transfer) or deferred start date (for a deferral)

  • Whether you've been accepted to the new school, or are still awaiting a decision

  • Any updated enrollment documentation your program requires, such as an acceptance letter or enrollment verification

Your administrator will let you know if any additional forms need to be completed in Kaleidoscope, such as an updated supplemental form or a new enrollment verification.

How your disbursements are affected

Once your administrator updates your award record, any future disbursements will reflect your new enrollment. Depending on your situation, you may need to:

  • Submit a new disbursement request for the updated term or school

  • Provide a new enrollment verification before the next disbursement is released

If a disbursement has already been sent to your previous school, your administrator will let you know whether it needs to be returned or reissued.

Note: Disbursement destinations (school vs. direct to you) and payment methods are set by your program administrator. If your new school requires a different payment method, notify your administrator when you report the change.
